Rev. Peter H. Klassen was born on Nov. 2, 1867 to Herich Klassen and Aganetha Neufeld. He came to Canada from Russia as a young man, together with his parents (approx. 1890-91). While still in Russia he was recruited the Russian Army. It ls difficult to determine for how long, or even if he served in the army.

Peter Klassen was married to Helena Wiebe on Feb. 9, 1891. She was born March 8 1870, to Peter Wiebe and Sarah Wolfe. They had no children of their own but one adopted girl.

Peter H. Klassen took up a homestead east of Osler in 1898. His homestead was NE 36-39-5-W3rd. For $100 he had purchased a 40 acre lot in in the village of Neuhorst together with several others. This land was purchased from Osler, Hammond & Nanton.

In 1898, he broke 24 acres and cropped 0; in 1899 he broke 20 acres and cropped 2; in 1901, he broke 30 acres and cropped 44; in 1902, he broke 20 acres and cropped 74.

In 1904 he owned seven horses, five horned cattle, and 3 pigs. He built a framed house 16×30 ft in the village of Neuhorst valued at $150. He also built a framed stable, 38×54′ valued at $500.

Rev. Peter H. Klassen was elected as a minister on Oct 25, 1898.

In the 1920s, he and his wife moved to Mexico. He continued to serve the Old Colony Church in Mexico until his death on Oct. 15, 1952. He preached 1,704 sermons, spoke at 185 funerals and married 136.
